Ah yes Spiderman 3, sure to break box office records, the movie actually was a let down. The expectations were high from the second movie and a story which weaved both the adventures of a superhero and the life of the poor loveful humorous college student is expected to be fun.

This movie, along with any superhero movie can be classified by it's villain, however this movie has 3 villains. An idea reminiscent of the old, and very horrible Batman movies. In fact the only movie that weaves two villain into one story very well is Batman Begins, and really, X-men does not count.

However, Spiderman 3 almost does a good job of this, almost. Perhaps the addition of Venom was too much, then again if you take away Venom, you take away the black suit an so on.

Sandman is probably the best done villain story in this movie, it works well with the the themes of revenge and guilt. Sandman's one goal is to get the money to heal his daughter, however mistakenly, in the process of doing this, he killed Ben Parker, Spiderman's surrogate father. Now Peter must deal with this emotionally, a viewer tends to actually feel more for Sandman than Spiderman, an effect that I felt makes the movie very interesting. The Sandman plot gets a 9.5 out of 10.

Hob Goblin is also a very good story, which once again works well into the plot and is sufficiently explored. Once again the director makes a good job of making the viewer feel more pain for him than Peter, and this also works with the 2 love triangles in the movie, making it really a love square. The only problem I have this is the quick fix. I mean it will take more than a day to forgive a man who did that to my face. 8.0 out of 10

Lastly and the most promising yet most disappointing is the Venom story. Yeah Venom was always someone who gave Spidey problems. And once again you have someone who suffers from Peter's bad side, Brock and the whole church scene is cool, and venom is cool. But the story does not live to expectations. The fact is, I stand here as a comic book lover while one of the coolest villian's in history has only received 30 min's of screen time and one battle scene. Venom is Batman's Joker, and rightfully, he deserves his own movie. The whole Venom thing seemed a little rushed, and I think the story should have made him scarier, I mean, its a crazy Simbiot from space!!!! 7.5 out of 10.

Sooo the movie gets around 3 stars...
